Survival City
At Yucca Flats, Nevada, a mock town is constructed for the purpose of testing its resistance to a possible atomic attack. The town's buildings are composed of a variety of materials including bricks, mortar, aluminum, steel, and wood. Dummies are placed in the houses and empty cars put in the empty streets. At the designated time the A-bomb is detonated. The damage caused by the blast is later evaluated by scientists and from their findings it can be ascertained what our chances for survival would be in the event of an atomic attack.
