Sky King

"From out of the clear blue of the western sky comes Sky King" was the familiar opening to television's premier aviation program. Operating from his Flying Crown Ranch in Arizona, Sky King, his niece Penny and their Cessna 310 airplane "Songbird" were constantly involved in one adventure after another.

The Wild Man

Sun, Dec 28, 195826 mins

As Penny and Sky are flying, Penny watches a car leave the road and plunge off a cliff. They quickly land and head for the nearby lumber company headquarters. The car was carrying the current payroll. At the wreck site, Sky is lowered by cable to rescue the driver, Charlie, who was ejected and stranded on a ledge. He indicates he crashed after a gunshot shattered the windshield. When they send someone to retrieve the pay satchel, it's missing. Everyone suspects that the culprit is "the Wild Man" who has been shooting at the lumberjacks during cutting operations. Back at headquarters, Sky volunteers to search by air, the lumber crews will go with the sheriff on foot, and Penny will try to catch some trout to feed to the recovering Charlie. The Wild Man, Jean Turnot, bumps into Penny at the river. He tells her he did not shoot at the car and did not take the payroll money. He has been shooting at the lumbermen because they are cutting the trees where his animal friends live. He was hoping to get some milk for a baby raccoon that he is nursing. Penny agrees to get some milk and meet him later. The sheriff uses this as an excuse to capture him. But Turnot climbs onto a water tower where Penny approaches him. Sky catches one of the lumber crew aiming his rifle at Turnot. It was the fellow who shot the car and took the money. Sky stops him with a warning shot as he tries to flee.
