After the bison stampede, Royal finds an unconscious, injured Autumn and locates a forehead scar seeming to match Amy's scar. He brings her back to the ranch house. Two riders, a young Royal (Christian James) and young Cecilia (Megan West), find an injured cow having given birth to a calf alone on the range. The cow has to be destroyed and they bring the calf back for nursing care. At the ranch house in the current time period, Royal begins to explain his history to Cecilia but she simply says their family is "gone." But he tells her Amy is upstairs. She races up to find Autumn but tells Royal they have to get her to the hospital. At the crowded police station, Joy is missing and Cecilia hears someone report having seen Rebecca with Amy at the rodeo. Cecilia searches a local Indian's home but can't find them. Luke wakes up after the bison stampede and reaches home. He is hallucinating, hearing the stuffed owls speak to him. An ambulatory Wayne is there. He tells Luke Billy is in hospital, after emergency surgery. Royal is with Autumn there, who has broken ribs and a concussion. He tries calling Cecilia but her voicemail is full. Rhett and Maria were reunited after the rodeo but were later caught in the bison stampede, crashing into a highway advertising signpost. Rhett was able to start his truck after the crash. They drive to a motel and get a room for some sleep before they decide where to begin their new life. Royal brings Autumn back to the ranch house and reunites with Cecilia. He shows her his birth certificate for 1878 and begins his history. A Ben Younger shows up at the Abbott's ranch asking for work. Young Royal and Cecilia send him on to the Tillerson's ranch for work.
