Disillusioned by mainstream Christianity and Christian fundamentalism in particular, Bakker takes his form of liberal Christianity from Phoenix, to Atlanta and finally to Williamsburg, Brooklyn where he preaches acceptance and tolerance, and questions the traditional readings of sacred texts.
