Top Gear is a British motoring magazine and entertainment television programme about motor vehicles, primarily cars, and is now relaunched as a general motoring magazine show as of 2002, and becoming the most widely watched entertainment television programme in the world.

In 1998, Professor Nick Cutter's wife Helen disappeared through a rupture in time known as an anomaly. Eight years later anomalies to different points in Earth's history are beginning to appear all over London, bringing with them dangerous prehistoric creatures. To combat the anomaly threat, government officials James Lester and Claudia Brown form a research team led by Professor Cutter (in later series, Danny Quinn and Matt Anderson) with the aim of capturing the creatures and sending them back to their own time.
