ESPN First Take

Because First Take is a live sports debate talk show on ESPN rather than a scripted television drama, it does not have a narrative plot or storyline. Instead, the program follows a daily studio format centered around high-energy argumentative banter and opinionated debates on the latest sports news. A central moderator-currently Shae Cornette-introduces the day's trending topics, mostly focusing on high-profile NFL and NBA news. Lead analyst Stephen A. Smith goes head-to-head against a rotating roster of sports personalities and analysts, such as Michael Irvin, Dan Orlovsky, Ryan Clark, and recurring guests. They debate everything from game outcomes and player performances to league controversies.
