Send questions and comments to askmatt@tvguidemagazine.com and follow me on Twitter! Question: Last Sunday's "Hitting the Fan" episode of The Good Wife lived up to the hype. It was a game changer, but I guess it left me feeling slimed. Alicia has always taken a righteous position and walked a fine ethical line. On Sunday, I feel like she fell off a cliff — not only was she a party to trying to download files which I'm not sure is illegal but certainly not ethical (notwithstanding the ends-justify-the-means argument), but she also seemed gleeful about Peter using his political position to her gain. As Will seemed so right to point out, she seems to have no idea how bad she has become. This is not the good wife that I have been watching. What were your thoughts? — Megan

CBS has renewed Big Brother for summer 2014, the network announcedThursday. Big Brother: After Dark, which airs on TVGN, has also been renewed.

On paper, Julie Chen and Sharon Osbourne — the queen bees of CBS' girly gabfest The Talk — couldn't be more different. Chen, a pedigreed journalist, spent years rising up the ranks at The Early Show and hosting Big Brother. Osbourne, meanwhile, has passed the last decade-plus morphing from music manager to reality-TV pioneer and variety-show judge. (Heck, even their husbands are practically from different planets: Chen is married to Leslie Moonves, the power-suited president and CEO of CBS; Osbourne has a 30-year union with rock icon Ozzy.) And yet...

Every summer, Big Brother host Julie Chen warns viewers to expect the unexpected, but this year the game will really be turned upside down as 12 brand-new houseguests move in with four returning all-stars who aren't necessarily after the $500,000 grand prize.

After a judge denied CBS' request to prevent the airing of ABC's new reality program The Glass House -- which CBS believes to be a direct rip-off of its long-running hit Big Brother -- the network fired back Wednesday with a mock press release announcing the development of a new show called Dancing on the Stars, a blatant play on ABC's hit competition series Dancing with the Stars. Judge denies CBS' restraining order request against Glass House "Subsequent to recent developments...

CBS may have lost the legal battle (for now), but it's won the ratings war. ABC's Big Brother-like new series The Glass House opened to a soft 4.18 million viewers and a 1.6 in the adults 18-to-49 demographic Monday, down 33 percent ...

The ABC/CBS legal saga continues. In response to CBS' temporary restraining order last week — which attempted to prevent ABC from airing The Glass House — ABC retaliated with a counterclaim in court Monday.

Radio and TV pioneer Fred Allen once quipped, "Imitation is the sincerest form of television." But he didn't live to see today's reality-TV wars, which erupted again this spring after CBS accused ABC of ripping off Big Brother and Fox announced plans to tweak NBC's The Voice.

And here we thought NBC would be trying to shut down Fox's new The Voice rip-off The Choice. But its CBS who is up in arms over ABC's news that the network would be launching a Big Brother-style reality series called Glass House. Lawyers for CBS...

Big Brother winner Rachel Reilly may have walked out of the house with the $500,000 check last summer, but does she have what it takes to race around the world for the full million.

President Barack Obama asked to address Congress on his promised jobs program on Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m., the same time as a scheduled Republican debate among presidential hopefuls. House Speaker John Boehner refused, and the president agreed to reschedule.

The Season 4 debut of Breaking Bad on Sunday night defied conventional ratings trends, attracting 2.6 million viewers to become the series' most-watched episode -- 32 percent more than the third-season premiere. Need a little break from all of those angst-ridden vampires and werewolves? Stiffen your spine and toughen your stomach, because here comes a zombie jamboree. Want more Matt Roush? Subscribe to TV Guide Magazine now! In many ways, zombies are the most horrifying of classic monsters. They're not romantic, tragic-hero types. They just are. No explaining them, no containing them; they're the human animal reduced to its most primitive and soulless state, compelled by only one need: to feed. All you can do is run.

Dead Set (Monday-Friday, midnight/11c, IFC)TV is gearing up for a zombie invasion, and Halloween-ies with strong stomachs will be in hog hell (because frankly, it doesn't really feel like heaven). As a disgustingly hilarious curtain-raiser for AMC's much-anticipated Halloween night premiere of The Walking Dead, IFC imports this wildly graphic five-part British miniseries that imagines a zombie outbreak sweeping London, with the last safe haven being...

Big Brother producers are adding another level of treachery a la The Mole with what they've labeled a "saboteur." When the show premieres Thursday, July 8 at 8/7c on CBS, one of the houseguests will have a separate mission: to sabotage the rest of them. This player's goal will be unknown to the rest of the cast. Viewers, however, will learn the person's identity July 15 — when the first live show airs.

This week kind of caught us off-guard. The star of one of our favorite shows got shot. An egg just kind of appeared. Mad Men's Don was nice to Betty, for once. And what was up with Whitney Houston? Welcome to Top Moments, curveball edition.

In August 2005, a dream came true for Paula Goodspeed. Having made it to the third round of American Idol's Season 5 auditions, she stood across a table from Paula Abdul, of whom she was a longtime fan. Minutes later, Goodspeed was subject to the frank sort of criticism the Idol panel is known to dish out. (Randy Jackson, for one, summed up her skills as "terrible.") Three years later, Goodspeed would take her own life outside Abdul's Los Angeles home. The Goodspeed tragedy has prompted many to ask anew: Do the demands of reality television make it difficult for some people to face their "moment like this," or the dark moments that can follow? Psychological screening processes often are involved at the early stages, yet ...

ABC has passed on the chance to acquire Golden Cage, the successor to Big Brother, citing no, not highbrow tastes, but prohibitive production costs. According to the Reporter, Golden Cage — which has broadcast in the Netherlands — has strangers cohabitate in a luxurious house with one goal: to irritate the other inhabitants into submission. Last man standing gets the house. Out here, we call that "a Hamptons share." — MWM
Despite the best efforts of the Idol juggernaut to squash the life out of the special winter edition of Big Brother, CBS will in fact serve up the usual summer cycle as well. A premiere date has not yet been set.Similarly, says the Reporter, Fox may wind up with back-to-back editions of Hell's Kitchen on its 2008 menu, having ordered a double run for this latest production cycle. Hell's returns in mid-April.What's your take? Does Big Brother risk overexposure? Might back-to-back Hell's Kitchens be overindulgent?
To kick off the ninth season of Big Brother (which premieres Tuesday, Feb. 12, at 9 pm/ET), CBS invited eight members of the media to experience life in the house for 12 hours. We sent TV Guide Network's Kimberly Caldwell, cohost of Idol Tonight and Reality Chat. Here, the former American Idol finalist shares her experience. I'm not just a huge fan of Big Brother — I'm a huge psycho fan! So when I was asked to live in the house, I was like, "Wow, OK, cool!" Then I got scared. Twelve hours? Who are they gonna put me with? What's gonna happen to me? I mean, I really like watching the show, but I don't want to be one of those people! Do I? But I got it together and went and, naturally, overpacked. I've seen those challenges where you end up getting soak

After 81 days and countless dramas, Evel Dick emerged as the $500,000 winner of Big Brother 8, with his daughter, Daniele, taking the $50,000 second prize. The dynamic Donato duo certainly faced their share of controversy and managed to survive being on the block — with each other — three times. The day after their big win, the two shared their favorite moments of the summer, what they plan to do with the money and some surprisingly tender insights about each other. TVGuide.com: What was the key to your success?Dick: Working together. Best teammates ever, best team ever! TVGuide.com: That's been your motto since making it to the final two. Why do you think you worked so well together?Dick: Nobody else did what we did, including Danielle and Jason and their secret alliance in Season 3, Will and Boogie in All-Stars, the twins in Season 5, the exes in

The new season of CBS' Big Brother, premiering July 5, offers a twist bigger than the Alice in Wonderland-style house detailed in today's Interviews & Features. As teased there by exec producer Allison Grodner, gone is the America's Choice element, which will be replaced by a far more interactive gimmick: an "America's Player" who will have the chance to reap big bucks by executing tasks chosen by viewers via text-messaging/online voting. Example: the "AP" might be asked to get flirty with someone in particular, or vote a certain way at elimination time. Dance, monkey, dance! What sorts are in the mix this season? The 14 houseguests range in age from a ripe 20 to a creaky 44, and they include a former pro football player, a shoe salesman (whoa, Bundy!) and a singular married person, and no less than three restaurant/bar employees. In other words, the service at your local Houlihan's might be a bit slower than usual this summer.Check out TVGuide.com's exclusive gallery for a sneak...
Question: Do you have any scoop on the upcoming season of Big Brother 8 you'd like to share?Answer: Nah.
NBC Universal president and CEO Jeff Zucker said he doesn’t envision any changes to the NBC's 2007-08 fall schedule even though he's changed top entertainment executives at the network. NBC made it official late Tuesday that Ben Silverman, who brought The Office and Ugly Betty to American television, will become co-chairman of the network’s entertainment division and production studio. Marc Graboff, president of NBC Universal Television, West Coast, has also been elevated to co-chairman."The timing of the announcement has nothing to do with the fall schedule," said Zucker. "The reaction [to the lineup] has been incredibly strong.” He said he’d been trying to bring Silverman into the network for some time, and only recently learned that he was ready to make a move. Silverman will be in charge of creative decisions at the network and studio, while Graboff will handle the business side. The announcement means goodbye to Kevin Reilly, the NBC entertainment president ...

Last Thursday Diane Henry became the third and final alumna of Season 5 to be eliminated from the Big Brother 7: All-Stars house. The 24-year-old had engaged in a "showmance" with winner Drew her first time on the series and landed in third place, but this time she couldn't find people to ally with. TVGuide.com caught up with Diane to ask about the Mr. & Mrs. Smith rumor, Mike Boogie's crush and if she's still angry at

Since Big Brother 5, Jase Wirey has settled down with his girlfriend Heidi (not the annoying Holly who he had a "showmance" with in the house) and has become a father figure to Heidi's daughter, Caleigh. Pretty impressive changes for the wild and crazy leader of the Four Horsemen alliance. But not everything has changed for the Big Brother 7 all-star — there was still the mandanna, his obsession with the man in the mirror, and his wild temper. TVGuide.com caught up with the new Jase to ask him about his recent stay in the BB house and about his unanimous eviction. Turns out he is a man of few words. TVGuide.com: Good morning. You sound tired. Jase: I'm not too thrilled about all this. TVGuide.com: You seemed to hint that you'd be back — do you

Alison Irwin earned a reputation as a backstabbing flirt during her stint on CBS' Big Brother 4, so it isn't all that surprising that her attempts at scheming with Danielle in a failed plan to oust Janelle caused her to be the first booted out the front door of Big Brother 7: All-Stars (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 8 pm/ET). TVGuide.com caught up with Alison — who also had a hated turn on The Amazing Race 5 — the day after her eviction, to find out how she feels about her bad-girl rep.

Fresh Diet Raspberry Snapple? Check. Fully charged Dell laptop? Check. Leftover Vicodin from last year's root-canal crisis, just in case? Check. OK, let's do this, people. EXECUTIVE SESSION 9:08 am: I spy Eye president Nina Tassler embracing a reporter prior to walking on stage. Is that ethical? Oh, wait, this is coming from someone who reserves judgment on a show until after the tie-in swag is delivered.9:14 am: Stop the presses! In her opening remarks, Tassler drops a bombshell: "It's [been] a "really great year at CBS for us!" 9:22 am: With no major controversies swirling around CBS, the initial questions lobbed at Tessler are decidedly tame. Where's a good Big Brother scandal when you need one? Speaking of which, did anyone watch the live video feed last night? Maybe someone got stabbed, and we don't know it! (Hey, a guy can dream.)9:29 am: Things may be picking up. Citing the demise of Fox's Reunion as an example, a reporter asks Tassler if she's worried that viewers might thi...
CBS' Big Brother 7: All-Stars is about to begin, and the 20 potential housemates are out campaigning like crazy — perhaps none more so than "Hurricane" Howie Gordon. The self-proclaimed Jedi and former weatherman who breezed through the first half of Big Brother 6 desperately wants a chance to blow away audiences with his humor once again. Today is the last day that fans can vote at CBS.com for their favorites. (The viewers' top six will be combined with the producers' favorite six, and the chosen dozen will enter the house on July 6.) Before casting your ba

In last week's Big Brother 5 finale, Drew Daniel's prospects looked iffy. The four-time Head of Household winner evicted his own girlfriend, Diane, and went to the final two with his original alliance mate, Michael (aka Cowboy). But somehow, the recent college grad survived 82 days of isolation from the outside world and beat out 13 other players for the $500,000 prize. In a tight 4-3 vote, the jury (made up of seven ex-housemates) tapped Drew to take home the cash. Here, the 22-year-old cutie tells TV Guide Online about his big win, the Diane debacle and his very own twin twist. TV Guide Online: Were you confident of victory? Drew: To be honest, I thought for sure that Cowboy had it. I told Cowboy, "Hey man, congratulations. You won this thing and I'm so happy for you." When there were two votes for Cowboy, I was thinking, "It's going to be a 7-0 vote and I'm not going to get a single vote." Then I started getting some votes! But b
Unfortunately for Big Brother 5's Marvin Latimer, the same qualities that made him a great TV presence also made him a good number of enemies. Both a gamer and a playa, the self-proclaimed ladies' man made his female housemates uncomfortable by flirting incessantly; his status as a rogue male had the same effect on the Four Horsemen's boys' club. (Even he must now realize that he was the fall guy in the shaky Santa Monica Van Boy alliance he formed with Jase, Scott, Michael and Drew.) But perhaps his most egregious offense against the unwritten rules of conduct for Big Brother contestants was tellin' it like it was. (If there's any justice in the world of reality television, evil twin Adria is still licking her wounds after the tongue-lashing he delivered upon her ouster.) Mind you, we at TV Guide Online can handle the truth. So, before Marvin got sequestered in the jury house, we got the lowdown on his two-faced roomies.
Big Brother 5's Jase Wiley was the unofficial (and very manipulative) leader of the Four Horsemen alliance. As fans will recall, Jase annoyed the housemates with his constant personal grooming and incessant chatter about his imagined resemblance to Brad Pitt. (Yeah, riiight.) Not only did his abrasive, in-your-face behavior make him the most hated man in the house, but according to Nakomis, he really did make a stink with his tendency to pee on things! Here, the 28-year-old (supposed) volunteer fireman from Decatur, Ill., clears the air about the Goth girl's claim, his relationship with superperky Holly and his constant lying. We think he's telling the truth this time... TV Guide Online: Are you upset about leaving the house? Jase Wiley: It is feeling good, to be perfectly honest. I was ecstatic to be out of the house. TVGO: Really? That's surprising. Jase: My days were done. I came to play hard
Last Thursday, Big Brother 5's female houseguests banded together to oust Scott "Savage" Long. This definitely hurt his testosterone-driven allies, the so-called Four Horsemen, and their plans to trample the competition. Down one man thanks to those fickle fillies, the three remaining Horsemen — Jase, Drew and Michael (aka Cowboy) — are ripe to be thrown. Here, the devious 25-year-old Pittsburgh native wishes his old comrades luck, defends his original deception and reveals why Adria and Natalie's twin scheme upset him so much. TV Guide Online: Why'd the twin twist freak you out so badly? Scott Long: I'm taking it harder than I thought I would. I was upset because I felt I had a big part in saving Adria. Just the whole fact that it was [a lie was] the ultimate betrayal. I fell into that. I used my heart in the game, and as you can see, I got a little more open and a little more truthful to people as the game
Blonds don't always have more fun. Take Big Brother 5's latest evictee, Holly King, whose platinum hairdo and painfully high-pitched voice inspired loathing in her female housemates (especially Diane). Many of the guys seemed enthralled with her, but Holly's budding romance with cuddle-buddy Jase caused friction among his testosterone-fueled allies. (They suspected she was manipulating his decisions using her feminine wiles.) Here, the bubbly Holly defends the Jase thing and discusses her "blondness" and her future plans. TV Guide Online: When Julie showed you the twin twist with Adria, you looked stunned. Had you any clue?Holly: I was really in shock. But when I watched the show on TV, I remembered things... I should have caught on! Like when they had that whole mole twin conversation and they accused me of being a twin. If I had been part of that [conversation] — and not just gone to bed — I probably could have p
