Sterling (Angus Cloud) scrapes by with petty crimes; he has no real plans for his life. So he reacts on the spur of the moment when a customer in a small supermarket hits the lottery jackpot. Wearing a makeshift mask, he threatens the man and demands the ticket that has won the winner a whopping $156 million. However, police officer Cody (Sterling Beaumon) happens to be in the store and draws his gun as well. He accidentally kills the lottery winner and is shot himself. Sterling then takes the store owner Amir (Mousa Hussein Kraish), as well as the heavily pregnant Ana (Jessica Garza) and her husband Abraham (Elliot Knight), hostage. Since he doesn't actually want to kill anyone, Sterling now has to negotiate a deal with those present so he can make off with the money. But with such a large sum at stake, it's difficult to trust one another. Moreover, Cody has survived and has since alerted his father, who is already on his way with his fellow officers.
