After his parents' sudden deaths, J. Fontaine is forced to take control of the family business, a hip-hop record label. He moves the label to New York City in an attempt to keep his father's legacy alive while also making the label his own. As frustration sets in from all he's been dealt, his girlfriend Vicki tries to keep him grounded. As things begin to fall apart, he finds a new sound in Samantha Cole, a country singer from Tennessee. With help from a few close friends, he tries to save the record label and also find himself.
