Kill the Monsters
Is an allegory of US history, complete with eleven time stamps from 1776 independence to 2011 applying to the modern day action. Patrick, a slightly neurotic blogger in search of change, Sutton, a traditionalist living off a trust fund, and slightly younger and thus more easily controllable Frankie, without a college education working as an assistant for a demanding female British executive, are a gay "share and share alike" throuple living in New York City, the former two a couple before bringing in the latter, initially solely as a sex partner, but eventually as an equal person in the interrelationship. Frankie, the only one with a job outside their home, becomes ill with what is only described as a "general malaise", Patrick and Sutton believing as a result of his job. They convince him to quit for his own survival, they all believing they needing a change of scenery to get out of whatever ails him. While each has his own idea of what they should do and generally work on consensus, with Frankie making a general suggestion to move west, Sutton makes the unilateral decision to buy a condo in Santa Monica for them in he learning there a specialist there who may be able to provide a clearer diagnosis and treatment for Frankie. Patrick and Sutton also believe it will be a good opportunity for Frankie to get that college education. As they drive across the country, they end up being sidetracked in meeting a proverbial United Nations of people who not only affect what they do, but how they think and thus interact with each other.
