Iris Mortem

Set in a surrealist gothic world, Lizzie has made the decision to end her life prematurely following her depressing life of loss. Staying in a mysterious house in her final days as the guest of a mysterious host and caretaker, the Warden, she is visited by Brother Moth, a wandering priest of progressive ethics. Moth comes to understand her mindset and realizes her stubborn stance, and whilst he promises to respect her wish, he counsels her that her decision and the context surrounding it may alienate her remaining family. Shortly after, her father, her sister Laura and sly brother-in-law Louis arrive for dinner that evening; the latter quietly causes a family argument after referencing the suicide of Lizzie and Laura's late mother with leads Father to insult his late wife - the ensuring fight is broken up by the mute Warden. The next morning, Louis comes to speak with Lizzie in her room about her decision, but the Warden again interferes to halt Louis' manipulation. As Lizzie continues preparing, Father reflects in private on his relationship with his daughter and tearfully mourns what's to come. As Lizzie's assisted suicide ceremony begins, Father displays a small show of affection which allows father and daughter to reconcile before Lizzie carries out her suicide with the Warden's help. Waking up in a void, she waltzes a dance of death with the Warden before falling back in Death's embrace.
