SPOILERS!!. Jo, a woman with low self-esteem and an alcohol problem, desperately seeks a romantic partner. She idolizes her friend Dee, a narcissistic and manipulative cocaine addict. On Jo's birthday, Dee cancels their party plans and asks her to wait for the plumber, claiming she has an important meeting. At the house, Jo encounters Matt, whom she believes is the plumber. Encouraged by texts she thinks are from Dee, Jo attempts to seduce Matt. As she becomes increasingly intoxicated, the situation takes a dark turn. Jo realizes Matt has been impersonating Dee via text and fears for her safety. The scenario is revealed to be an elaborate, cruel prank orchestrated by Dee and Matt. Jo wakes up to find it was all a nightmare. The real plumber, Steve, arrives and helps Jo recognize Dee's toxic influence. As they bond, Dee returns home, and Steve is shocked to recognise her, but not as "Dee". It's then revealed that Steve is a former victim of Dee's manipulation. The story culminates with Steve and Jo fleeing the house moments before the faulty boiler explodes.
