Angora Ranch
Justin and Jack both have father issues. Twenty-something single Justin, living in Austin, is just starting his career working for his father Tom at his company, Burnett Advertising, Justin the supposed heir apparent to helm the company. While purporting to give Justin some authority and autonomy, Tom micromanages Justin, will take credit when things go right regardless of if he had anything to do with that success, and blame Justin when things go wrong regardless of if Justin had anything to do with that failure. What Justin would really like to do is be a photographer, Tom not even letting him work in that part of the agency. As they don't really communicate in a constructive or meaningful way, Justin can only assume that Tom knows he's gay. Living on Andorra Ranch in Cottonwood, widowed forty-six year old Jack, still grieving the death of his husband Bill five years ago, is the caregiver to his aged father Peter, a former diplomat who is battling a slowly worsening case of Alzheimer's, which still doesn't stop Peter from meddling in Jack's life. Jack is growing increasingly angry at his lot in life the result of what happened to Bill and is happening to Peter. Justin and Jack, and by association Peter, meet when Justin, on his way to Rockport for a business meeting, has car trouble right outside of Jack's ranch. While Peter will do whatever it takes to keep Justin on the ranch or at least make him return in seeing Justin as Jack's potential next life partner, Jack can admit to himself that he is attracted to Justin despite their age difference, and Justin needs little encouragement from either Jack or Peter to stay (beyond the need to get to his meeting) or return. Incidents within this collective of four men seems always to have the same catalyst, Jack's white Angora rabbit, Benny.
