Episode 1
Tue, Jan 4, 202246 mins
It's the Big Three's forty-first birthday. The general plan is for the Los Angeles crowd to convene at Kate and Toby's later in the day and link then with Randall's family via video. It doesn't start as the ideal day for almost all concerned. Toby, who is necessarily in San Francisco, has a surprise for Kate in having Rebecca and Miguel take care of the kids while he has arranged for a massage for her. As appreciative as she is for Toby's gesture, Kate can't help compare this gesture to things Toby has done for her in the past. Kevin, living in Madison's garage to be close to the twins, is still trying to get his life back together following the disaster that was the movie, and figure out his new relationship with Madison beyond they co-parenting. Both Kate and Kevin can't help but think back five years ago to what was their thirty-sixth birthday in life coming full circle in some respects. Randall discovers that the man who broke into the house two years ago is in custody and is being arraigned today, Randall feeling the need to confront the person who forever changed his family's life that day. And beyond quietly being annoyed by Nicky's constant lament about his long lost love Sally, the woman he stalking on social media who he believes is her, Rebecca can't help but be more frustrated by something that happens as her mind wanders to past associations. January 28, 1986 is also shown in how that day, that of the Challenger disaster, may have foresaw how each of the Big Three, five at the time, would act/react this day.

Episode 2
Tue, Jan 11, 202243 mins
Two road trips are featured. The first is Déjà's, who is taking the bus to visit Malik in Boston for the first time since he went away to Harvard, but she told Randall and Beth that she is spending the weekend studying with a girlfriend in town. While she has a sense of anticipation for seeing Malik again, she gets a dose of reality when she sees Malik's student/co-parenting life without her, especially when she meets Jennifer for the first time. The second is Nicky's, who, accompanied by Rebecca and Miguel, is driving two hours to reconnect with Sally Brooks without invitation, with whom he had a fleeting relationship in his youth as she was on her way to Woodstock and whom he's pined after for fifty years. Something Nicky admits en route colors the meeting, which ends up being one of the most awkward encounters any of them ever experience while at the same time illuminating for their current stage in life.

Episode 3
Tue, Jan 18, 202243 mins
The stories of four of the fathers trying to connect with their children are presented. In one, Jack is so busy with work that he never sees the preschool aged Big Three anymore in they being in bed by the time he arrives home. So he decides to take them to the movies on the weekend - their first ever trip to see a movie on the big screen - Rebecca leaving the four to this outing on their own. In two, Randall is taking Déjà out for her first driving lesson, in the process he knowing that he has a captive audience with her in that father/daughter connection. Randall discovers more about his daughter's life than he was anticipating. In three, Kevin, now sleeping in Kate and Toby's living room, is trying to be present in the twins' lives as if he and Madison were still living together, his emotions which are ramped up in now portraying the father in the reboot of The Manny. And in four, Toby tries to make the most of his time with the kids whenever he is in Los Angeles, which is less often than when he is in San Francisco for work. While he still makes the grand gestures to compensate, he believes he knows how to step into the role as full time caregiver in he having done so when he was stay-at-home dad. Beyond the issue of the four fathers wanting to connect more fulsomely with their children, another common thread is the role of the mother as the voice of reason and/or voice of knowledge.

Episode 4
Tue, Jan 25, 202243 mins
After his mother passes away from an aneurysm, Jack feels that Rebecca and the kids really didn't know her all that well and doesn't want to subject them to the long four-hour one-way drive, Jack makes the trip alone to Ohio to arrange his mother's funeral. Upon arriving at Marilyn's cousin Debbie's house where Marilyn had been living without Stanley's knowledge ever since Jack got her out of the Pearson family house thirteen years ago, Jack discovers that his tasks associated to the funeral are limited to one - the eulogy - because Marilyn has prearranged most of it already. Jack finds this task the most difficult of all because while the two spoke on the telephone every week precisely at 6:00 pm on Sunday, their relationship for thirteen years was built primarily on these calls, the end of each was marked by Marilyn's statement, "don't let me keep you," which was symptomatic of Marilyn not only not wanting to be a bother but not to be a bother specifically to Jack. Still, loving his mother and wanting to say something meaningful about her but not really knowing anything about her life in Ohio, he thinks back to the painful period of when they had a true relationship, namely when they both lived under the same roof as Stanley.

Episode 5
Tue, Feb 1, 202243 mins
Kevin heads to Pennsylvania to help Nicky oversee the construction of what will be Rebecca's house at the cabin property. He decides to invite Cassidy in wanting some company, which brings into light the nature of Kevin's life with women and the balance between friendship and what at the time is often monogamous sex in his want for a committed relationship. Malik will be in Philadelphia for twenty-four hours, he wanting to make dinner for Randall, Beth and the family. Randall and Beth know that the dinner is meant for an announcement of some sort, they going through their usual game of guessing the options of the worse in the hope that nothing can be as bad as they can think of. They will soon find out how "bad" it is as the dinner nears its conclusion. And Rebecca is spending the day with Kate and the children as Kate invites her mother to class with her. Kate knows that it's been a rocky forty year road for the two of them to a point of a now truly loving relationship - one of the low points being when Rebecca started dating again after Jack's passing - which makes the pronouncement she has to make to her mother all the more difficult.

Episode 6
Tue, Feb 22, 202243 mins
Thanksgiving is approaching. Adjusting to his new reality of co-parenting with Madison while trying to be supportive in her relationship with Elijah, Kevin invites Madison to the cabin for the Pearson family Thanksgiving so that he can be near the twins and invites Elijah to show support. In the process, he places Kate in an awkward position between him and her friendship with Madison while Kate already has domestic problems of her own. Beth, in her role as the dance academy's recruiter, which includes overseeing the scholarship program, is nervous for the new class of fifteen in their first recital, as nervous as if she were preparing to dance herself. Beth finds that there is one student, Stacey, who may require more hand holding to sooth doubts about her place in the academy. Kevin, Kate, and Beth's current experiences hearken back to an approach to Thanksgiving late in the previous millennium when Kevin and Sophie made an early return to Pittsburgh for the holidays from their respective bases of Los Angeles and New York, Rebecca invites a boyfriend, Matt, to Thanksgiving for the first time, and in Beth and Randall run into her old dance instructor, Vincent.

Episode 7
Tue, Mar 8, 202243 mins
Three Pearson family Thanksgivings are shown, two common threads being a focus on Rebecca, and the appearance of a version of Janet Malone's family famous Thanksgiving sugar pie, its secret, special ingredient which she has not divulged. The first is the year before Jack and Rebecca are to be married, they hosting dinner solely for her parents. Rebecca's week-long preparation for the get-together takes a back seat on the day to the issues between mother and daughter, where Rebecca can no longer handle her mother's continual judgment. Against Dave's advice to let the two deal with their issues in their own way, Jack tries to diffuse the situation. The second is just before Y2K. While Kevin and Sophie's split and Kate's obvious weight gain in her depressed life, something most visible to Randall who has not seen her in a while, are issues at this gathering, it is the foursome of Rebecca, her boyfriend Matt, Miguel, and his French girlfriend Marguerite that quietly preoccupies the thoughts of the Big Three and Beth, who can see that there is something going on between Rebecca and Miguel that Kevin in particular does not want to happen, and that Rebecca and Miguel themselves, unspoken, are trying to avoid in deference to Jack and his memory. And the third is current day at the cabin where Kevin will outline the plans for the family complex to be built on that property. Even before arriving, Beth can foresee that this Thanksgiving will be another explosive one as they usually are with the Pearsons, issues including Kevin being solo on this important family day without the twins, and Kate and Toby's marital problems exacerbated by their day-to-day geographic distance. But it is Rebecca's request to have a meeting solely with the Big Three and Miguel before the day is out to make some pronouncements that adds that further ominous tone to the proceedings.

Episode 8
Tue, Mar 15, 202243 mins
Following Rebecca's Thanksgiving Day pronouncement to the Big Three, Kevin takes her words to heart and decides to take the twins on his own to the cabin to prove himself a father, a move that almost speaks he speaks with sees as being folly and again biting off more than he can chew, especially handling the pair on his own during the travel phase. Being at the cabin also allows him to see the progress of the house construction being overseen by Cassidy and Nicky, with Matty and Edie also there. While he is in the process of learning how to play the guitar, another of those grand goals he is doing very badly, he can't help but reflect on other past goals and their failure, such as when he was six and wanted to dive off the diving board at the deep end of the pool and touch the drain at the bottom like the bigger kids even before he knew how to swim. But the events of others at the cabin gives him a broader perspective of how he believes he should fit into the lives of others for whom he truly cares.

Episode 9
Tue, Mar 22, 202242 mins
The aftermath of Rebecca's Thanksgiving pronouncement to the Big Three is shown this time from Kate's perspective, that perspective which also includes the two pool related items from the Big Three's past, the first day of pool day when they were six, and the three on site upon Kevin learning that the pool was closing for good. Departing the cabin for home, Kate realizes that she and Toby need some time together alone for them to rediscover what has obviously been missing from their marriage of late, which has only been exacerbated by the physical distance, hence Kate's suggestion that she spend a weekend in San Francisco with him and without the kids. As Kate spends the weekend with Toby in its ebbs and flows of emotions, they are, without Toby's knowledge, in the presence of a third which makes the weekend more difficult, namely the spirit of the "old" Toby who can't help but comment on the proceedings.

Episode 10
Tue, Mar 29, 202243 mins
The aftermath of Rebecca's Thanksgiving pronouncement to the Big Three is shown for a third time, finally from Randall's perspective. Top of mind for Randall is why Rebecca chose Kate as her number two after Miguel and not him because the two of them, with the exception of when he discovered what Rebecca knew about William, have always had a special bond. Randall has also always felt that he was the family's protector after Jack died and that he tried to excel and more often than not did excel at everything he attempted, which is demonstrated in the incidents at the pool when the Big Three were six on the first day of summer and when they got locked in the permanently shut-down facility at age nineteen when Kevin wanted one last blow-out where they had spent much time over the course of their lives. While Randall has already told Jae-Won to hold off the senator who wants to have an important discussion with him, Randall is thrown off track by a move by Déjà. While Randall has to deal with the Déjà issue, Rebecca, knowing her son, beats him to the punch by addressing both the issue of not naming him her number two and how to deal with Déjà in his angry state.

Episode 11
Tue, Apr 5, 202243 mins
Rebecca's two ten-year wedding anniversaries are presented, neither of which goes according to plan. In the first one with Jack, the two are going out for a romantic and expensive dinner, the first time Rebecca has been treated to such since the arrival of the Big Three, who are at home with a sitter. Without telling Jack beforehand, Rebecca plans to drink a lot, all in the prelude to what is the much anticipated sexual encounter to cap off the evening when they get home. In the current-day anniversary with Miguel, Kate and Toby are hosting a barbecue with Rebecca and Miguel's friends invited and Randall and Beth coming out from Philadelphia for the occasion. While they don't want it to happen, Kate and Toby are able to curb what for them has been the norm of something small leading to an argument eventually veering to the touchy topic of Toby wanting the family to move to San Francisco. A disaster and a potential tragedy ruin the occasion. The potential tragedy can either tear Kate and Toby further apart or bring them back together. Through it all, Rebecca sees what she considers a seminal moment in the earlier anniversary as a central theme of the latter. Meanwhile, Kevin learns something that makes him contemplate making another rash decision, this time concerning Madison.

Episode 12
Tue, Apr 12, 202242 mins
Jumping from time to time, several key moments in Kate and Toby's relationship over the course of several years are shown, the bookends being Toby's move back to Los Angeles to do whatever to make the family work on the front end and Kate and Philip's wedding day on the back end. Within those bookends, the specifics that define the path are what Kate considers the final straw in their relationship's disintegration while they still love each other, what Toby truly does see as being the problem of their marriage or what he wants to think it is, and how Kate and Philip are brought together, especially in light of Kate's assertion that Philip is a womanizer who only dated pencil-thin women before her. What may truly define Kate and Toby's relationship, however, is something that she says to him after their divorce papers are signed, something that he in turn does not believe nor ever would, or so he thinks.

Episode 13
Tue, Apr 19, 202242 mins
It's Kate and Philip's wedding day, but behind the scenes the focus is on neither the bride or the groom. Most of that focus is on Rebecca, whose Alzheimer's is progressively worse, more noticeable for someone like Randall who has not seen her of late in his new senate life. Rebecca is scheduled to perform a song important to both her and Kate at the reception, but no one is sure if Rebecca will be able to do it despite Kate and Philip and by association everyone in the family doing whatever they can to ensure that Rebecca's day is as routinized as possible, something she bucked when the Big Three were six to what she at the time considered disastrous results. As the day goes on, someone else in the family notices someone else whose overall health may also become an issue for the family as a whole. The other focus, at least for Beth and Madison, is Kevin, as they stumble across some evidence that Kevin was not alone in bed last night. Their sleuthing leads to three possible candidates: Arielle, the wedding singer, who they saw being friendly with Kevin the day before; Cassidy, Kevin's plus one at the wedding, their relationship which they have previously stated has long been purely platonic; and Sophie, despite the fact that she is remarried to someone else.

Episode 14
Tue, Apr 26, 202242 mins
On the day of Kate and Philip's wedding, Beth and Madison discovered evidence in Kevin's room that he spent the night with a woman, including a pink brassiere, a woman's shawl, and a love note written in a woman's handwriting. In watching the proceedings that day, they narrow down the possibilities to three women: Philip's friend Arielle, the wedding singer; Cassidy, his supposedly platonic plus one for the occasion; and the most unlikely due to her marital status, Sophie. Rewind twenty-four hours, and the day before the wedding is shown from Kevin's perspective and his time with each of the three candidates among others, what presented explaining how the brassiere, the shawl, and the note ended up in his room and the other clues Beth and Madison witnessed. In reviewing that day on the wedding day, Kevin is uncertain about what happened in terms of what it means for his future with regard to the woman. The scales tip with an associated but yet unassociated subsequent conversation Rebecca has with said woman, Rebecca unaware of the implications, not knowing what Beth and Madison have seen or what has happened the past twenty-four hours with Kevin.

Episode 15
Tue, May 3, 202243 mins
Miguel's story over the entire course of his life is told. The one constant over most of it is the push and pull between various factions leading to he never feeling like he fit in: his American life versus his Puerto Rican roots; his want for that better, more financially secure life versus his working class growing up both in Pennsylvania as well as Puerto Rico; he wanting that loving family yet being divorced and being estranged from his children, most specifically Andy; and his relationship with Rebecca which did not sit well with the Big Three, especially Kevin who saw it as a betrayal to their father, Miguel's purported best friend. In the era of Kate's second marriage, Miguel has become the de factor center of the "Pearson" family in being Rebecca's primary caregiver, and thus being the intermediary between Rebecca and the Big Three in relation to her care. But in carrying the weight of the Pearson family on his shoulders, he is also no longer a young man who is facing health issues of his own, making that weight heavier and heavier despite putting on that brave face in his vow to Rebecca and thus himself to be there for her.

Episode 16
Tue, May 10, 202242 mins
Moments over the course of their life when it has either been practically and/or emotionally just Rebecca and the Big Three are shown, these moments in light of it again being the four of them in the future a week following Miguel's passing. The Big Three, their respective spouses, Nicky and Edie, and Madison, Elijah and the two kids are at the house to provide their support, but everyone realizes that this gathering cannot last much longer as they have to return to their regular lives. Although Rebecca assigned Kate to be the decision maker in this instance when Miguel is no longer in the picture, the Big Three agree to have a meeting to discuss what to do about Rebecca's care. Beth and Sophie, in knowing the Pearsons for as long as they have, especially their respective significant other, know exactly how each of the three will act within the dynamic of just the three of them. While Randall and Kevin both have the most seemingly immovable opinions, it is quiet Kate who has the final say regardless of what her brothers want.

Episode 17
Tue, May 17, 202245 mins
Kevin and Randall call in the rest of the family to the house as it looks like Rebecca will not have much longer. As the rest of the family convenes at the house, including some no longer officially part of the family, Rebecca goes through her own journey, one long promised to her by her father. As she waits for someone, she is taken on that journey by a guide, she reconnecting with people she hasn't seen in a while, and in the process learns of the reasons behind some life altering events.

Episode 18
Tue, May 24, 202244 mins
It's the day of Rebecca's funeral, and the Big Three are not only preparing for the ceremony itself but muse about what their life will be like without Rebecca, who has long been their guiding force, Kate in particular, who has finally come into her own, fears them losing their way, not only as individuals but as a family. Meanwhile, what Rebecca feared the most in her progressive degeneration was not losing memory of the big events but of the everyday events. As such, one specific day is shown when the family had nothing to do and how they filled that day, which would, like many such days, have profound effects on them all in subtle ways.
