Episode 1
Everything Is Bonzer!

Michael having convinced the Judge to do so, Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason are all back on Earth having been given a second chance to prove that they are good people. Michael's first task is to prevent their deaths that originally befell them. Michael doesn't tell the Judge what's going on as he and Janet monitor the four humans' individual progress as each has fallen into somewhat the same routine that got them into the Bad Place the first time around despite their having made initial changes in their behaviors and attitudes immediately after their respective near death experience. As such, Michael believes he has to bend the Judge's rules on the matter to help the process of what made the four change when they were together in the neighborhood; he believes Eleanor and Chidi are the key. Michael providing that help depends on his making it past "the Doorman". But other factors on Earth, as well as in other forces within the spiritual world, may throw further bumps into the road.

The Brainy Bunch

Despite Michael's ability to get Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason all together on Earth, it is not all smooth sailing toward the wanted outcome for Michael and thus the Earthlings as Sean has discovered what Michael has been up to, and has sent his own operative to kibosh Michael's project, that operative being the diabolical Trevor. Sean has gone this route instead of giving Michael up to the Judge solely because "it's more fun". Trevor's sole mission is to break up the foursome. Michael, in turn, is hamstrung as the four Earthlings all know him in different personae, so if he can and does make himself known to them again, he can only do so individually and perhaps only with Chidi as having "met" where they are all now based, namely Sydney, Australia. Throwing a wrench into the entire proceedings is Eleanor, who was only given the opportunity to get together with Chidi, but who, even without anyone's intervention, may have her own ideas of what she wants in life this time around. The constant threat however is if the Judge discovers Michael's deception in what he considers only bending her rules, while she would probably consider he having broken them.

The Snowplow

Michael and Janet are able to escape from the Judge to make their way to Earth, albeit with limited powers, to oversee the progress of the four humans directly. With those limited powers, Michael sees their main job as analogous to a snowplow: not to intervene directly, but to clear a path for the four to continue their time together which Michael sees as being the key. Being snowplows has unintended consequences which brings up the larger question for Michael and Janet of how much they can or should meddle in the lives of the four, as opposed to getting them together to figure things out for themselves.

With Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason collectively having seen Michael and Janet in front of the door to the afterlife, Michael and Janet may have no other choice but to tell the four humans the truth, even knowing that doing so will seal their fates, that being eternity in the Bad Place. The other option may be if Janet can come up with a convincing enough alternate story that the four collectively will believe. What Michael and Janet eventually tell the four humans leads to the four going on a journey of self-discovery, while Michael and Janet decide it is time to write their "manifesto" of what they've learned ever since the start of the experiment concerning the neighborhood.

The Ballad of Donkey Doug

Michael and Tahani have accompanied Jason back home to Jacksonville to help him with his first good deed to save the soul of a loved one, the person Jason has chosen being his father, which Tahani finds odd as Jason has never mentioned his father before - or has he? What Jason wants to do is to get his father on a path of economic stability while not having to resort to any scam or crime as he has usually done, that economic stability in the form of he completing his electrician's licensing which he was once close to completing. This task may be more difficult than they anticipate. Meanwhile, Chidi has decided that in his deep feelings for Simone, he can't risk the possibility of letting slip to her what he and the others are going through, which would doom her to the Bad Place in her afterlife. As such, Eleanor convinces him that his only option is to break up with her. But as a person who can't lie, Chidi may have problem trying to accomplish this task. Janet believes she has a tool to help him, which may provide him the options in how to do it, but may still make the actual doing Chidi-like in its awkwardness.

A Fractured Inheritance

Tahani and Eleanor are on their next respective missions to help arguably the person they dislike the most in the world get into the Good Place. Tahani, with Chidi, Jason and Janet by her side, are in Budapest to make amends with Kamilah, who is getting raves for her latest art installation and museum show. But as Tahani and Kamilah have been competing against each other for most of their lives, Kamilah may not be as easy to make those amends as Tahani. Tahani may have to look deep into their history as well as look more closely at Kamilah's installation at the museum to push the right buttons with her sister. And Eleanor is in Nevada with Michael to see Eleanor's mother, Donna Shellstrop, whom Eleanor has just learned is not dead as she thought and who has taken on Eleanor's fake name, Diana Tremaine, to evade any possible criminal charges for her previous life. Donna, as Diana, has reinvented herself as a stereotypical perfect suburban "wife" and "mom", the latter to whom she considers her sweet geeky boyfriend Dave's nine-year-old daughter, Patricia. Although outwardly Diana seems happy in this new life, Eleanor is determined to discover what sham Donna is up to, as Eleanor is certain that there is one. But Eleanor may have to look deep into her own heart as to why she is more concerned about exposing Donna than she is about trying to help her.

The Worst Possible Use of Free Will

While Eleanor and Michael wait for the others to return to Arizona, Eleanor is eventually able to convince Michael to provide some remembrance of her afterlife, especially with regard to what Michael told her about she being capable of love as she and Chidi had professed their love for each other. Michael has his own reasons for not wanting to provide Eleanor this insight, he being selective in what he does show her, but he does try to convince her that she does love Chidi, that despite what she feels she learned from her parents about being incapable of loving. Eleanor takes something entirely differently from what Michael shows her, without realizing how much of an influence Chidi truly has been in her life and afterlife.

Don't Let the Good Life Pass You By

Michael and Janet, posing as reporters, go to see a man named Doug Forcett in the woods of Alberta, he who long ago discovered the system to get into the Good Place, he knowing deep in his heart it to be the truth for the afterlife. Michael and Janet want to pick Doug's brain in order map an actual blueprint to living a good life to apply to others they are trying to help. But they question in Doug being altruistic to a fault to amass points, does that really make him a good person? Meanwhile, Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason are waiting for Michael and Janet in a bar. While Chidi learns to loosen up with Jason's help, Eleanor turns to Tahani for some advice about Chidi. Whether Eleanor will admit her and Chidi's once loving past to him as she believes she is still in love with him has to take a back seat to some other incidents that happen unexpectedly at the bar.

Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason are now in Janet's world, an endless void, made necessary when Shawn's minion demons came a calling out of his makeshift portal. It's up to her to protect them while Michael tries to get information on just how the points system works for Good Place/Bad Place separation from the former's accountant who assigns said points.

The Book of Dougs

Without being followed, the gang has made its way to where they believe is the Good Place. Where they learn they technically are is the Good Place's correspondence center, with only a locked door, which humans technically cannot go through, separating the correspondence center and thus them from the actual Good Place. Michael first believes they have to establish a cover as although they are technically with the good guys, what he has learned is that the good guys are sticklers for the rules, the six of them who, under the rules, should not be there. Leaving the four humans and Janet there, Michael, undercover as one of the accountants, has to find a way to speak to the committee to discuss the Bad Place's manipulation of the points system where for the past five hundred years, no one has amassed enough points to make it into the Good Place. Even if he is able to speak to the committee, Michael may find the process for retribution is not as easy as he would like or have thought. At the correspondence center, Eleanor is most focused on how to make it through the door to what she assumes is nirvana on the other side, while Chidi has more immediate thoughts about acting upon their declaration of love. And Tahani, in the spirit of being good, tries to foster Janet and Jason's coming together as soul mates. Tahani's actions have less than satisfactory results.
Episode 11
Chidi Sees the Time-Knife

Michael has convinced the Judge to meet them all at the IHOP - Inter-dimensional Hole of Pancakes, arguably the most dangerous place in the afterlife, but a place where the Judge's powers are reduced - so that Michael can make the case that it is impossible in today's human life for anyone to make it into the Good Place using the points system if only because humans can never know all the bad consequences of the fundamentally good decisions they can make. It may take some convincing for the Judge to do anything about it, but after a visit to Earth, she does make a proposal to test Michael's hypothesis, it which has a sense of déjà vu especially for Michael in more ways than one. Meanwhile, Jason makes a proposal of his own to Janet, which could be unconsciously affected by what the Judge has decided for the group as a collective to do.
Episode 12
Pandemonium

Michael, Janet, Eleanor, Chidi, Tahani and Jason are ready for the reboot of the neighborhood, Michael and Janet outwardly performing the functions they had the previous go 'rounds, with the four humans hoping that their presence will result in what happened the previous times, namely that they can help transform the four recently deceased humans Shawn has chosen for this experiment into good people who deserve to spend their eternity in the Good Place. Things don't go quite according to plan as there is much more at stake emotionally for all six of them this time around - Michael and Janet who had no human emotion when they did it under the Bad Place experiment - knowing eternity for them and for the human race is on the line, some who may be more mentally equipped than others for what is to come.
