Episode 1
The Delaneys

The Delaney family is introduced in light of matriarch Joy perhaps having gone missing depending on which family member is asked. All the four adult children know is that they haven't seen her in a few days, and unlike her is not answering telephone calls or texts from them, which some can justify in they not having treated her well in recent months. Also depending on which of the four is asked, their father in their minds may be lying about her whereabouts, he only saying, whenever asked, that she is out running errands. The white elephant in the room in any discussion between the four is "her", a young woman named Savannah who entered specifically Joy's life as she supposedly was in physical and emotional distress, but who apparently has been out of Joy's life for months. In addition to Savannah entering Joy's life, the Delaneys' recent history is told in flashback starting with Sam and Joy's retirement from their famed West Palm Beach tennis academy in they having sold it, the four having grown up the offspring of ultra-competitive parents which has led to an underlying tension among all six and which has shaped the people all four are, and Stan and especially Joy struggling to find what that retirement life is going to be.
Episode 2
Logan

Logan's story is told. As the one who believes Savannah is somehow connected to Joy's disappearance, Logan goes to the police with his suspicions, while he staunchly defends his father, who is under suspicion by more than the police. In light of the subsequent discussions with his siblings, he cannot help but examine his decision to stay in Florida which led to the break-up with Indira, and his relationship especially with Troy in not having provided the funds to buy the tennis academy and in being the one viewing their father the harshest of the siblings. Things may change on all when the police discover that someone who claims to have found it on the side of the road has been trying to sell Joy's bicycle. Meanwhile, Amy, who is running on a stream of consciousness in her approach in trying to find Joy has the latest in unusual encounters with Simon. In the process, she comes across some evidence that may tie Savannah to Joy's disappearance. And in his usual passive/aggressive nature, Stan deals with the accusatory glances directed to him concerning Joy from "friends", neighbors, and others at the tennis academy.
Episode 3
Amy

Amy's story is told. Joy, with who Amy has a strong bond as her protector, considers her the searcher of her four offspring in having problems trying to find her place in life, especially concerning a career, while Brooke, with who she probably has the most troubled relationship among her siblings, calls her the "catastrophizer" in making a catastrophe out of any situation. That sense of loss of self-identity has led to her current situation of eking out a living as a holistic life coach, something the others see as Amy being her flaky self, and her need to cohabitate including with her landlord, Simon. When the police ultimately consider Joy missing and the news hits the media, Amy does what she may arguably believe is her way of helping, while the rest of the family grumbles under their collective breaths. While Amy does ultimately need to consider Savannah more seriously as having something to do with Joy's disappearance in acknowledging the issue of Savannah taking her place in Joy's life, more general attention is directed toward Stan in his lies about her whereabouts in the initial days of her being gone come to light to their neighbors and associates.
Episode 4
Brooke

Brooke's story is told, largely in light of the revelation by her family that she and Savannah had an affair before Savannah left seven months ago. That revelation makes the police look at both Brooke and Savannah a little more closely as suspects in Joy's disappearance. That revelation also changes the face of Brooke's relationships especially with Amy and Stan, the latter due to his own issues with Joy. Brooke tries to come to terms with the reasons for the affair, in light of her failing business about which only Gina knows, and an admission by Gina to Brooke. Meanwhile Amy consciously turns a corner in what up until now has been a floundering life path. And Troy acts on his feelings for Lucia in a more risky setting.
Episode 5
Troy

Troy's story is told. He makes a decision about his current life, and while that decision is a build up of other things, it is Joy's disappearance that is the final triggering factor. Some of those other factors are his relationships with Stan and to a lesser extent Monty who has been his surrogate father in light of what happened between him and Stan and Harry that led to the current animosity between father and son. The aftermath of that decision leads to Troy making a further decision regarding his thoughts about what truly happened to Joy. That further decision does not factor in his role in Savannah leaving when she did, getting her to leave which was not as easy as confronting her about knowing her story was all a fraud.
Episode 6
Stan

Stan's story is told largely in light of Logan having sent the marina surveillance footage to the police who look more closely at Stan as their primary suspect. While certain aspects of Stan's life are told such as his own relationship with his parents and thus what shaped him as a person in those formative years, and what his hospitalization says about his general nature, much of his story is told from the perspective of his individual relationships with his four children each based largely on their own growing up with some shifts stemming from the marina footage, and with Joy which seems to have taken its own shift with her admission about Harry. The revelation about Harry is shown to be the reason for the cold silence from three of the four offspring to their mother for the last few months.
Episode 7
Joy

Joy's story is told largely in light of Stan's arrest for her murder. While much of her story had been told in the individual ones of Stan and their four offspring, this telling centers primarily on what happened to her starting on the day she went missing, including how her bicycle became abandoned at the side of the road, how her cell phone ended up in the laundry basket, why she tried to telephone all five of her family members, those telephone calls unreturned by the time the phone ended up in the laundry basket, how her bloodied shirt ended up buried in the neighbor's yard, and a fuller account of the argument between her and Stan that ended up on the recording seized by the police, that argument which was when Stan sustained his facial injuries. What is also included in this telling is if Savannah had anything to do with her disappearance, and the true nature of why Savannah "stumbled" onto the Delaneys' front door that day several months ago.
