Private Practice vet Paul Adelstein is returning to TV, but he isn't straying too far from his roots.
Adelstein has booked a recurring role on Scandal, created and executive-produced by his former Private Practice boss Shonda Rhimes, TVGuide.com has confirmed.
Returning fall shows: Where we left off
As first reported by TVLine, details about Adelstein's role are being kept under wraps. This is Adelstein's first TV gig since Private Practice ended its six-season run in January. In addition to playing Cooper on the medical drama, Adelstein also has ties to Scandal through his real-life wife, Liza Weil, who recurred in Season 1 as the late Amanda Tanner.
Adelstein, who has also previously appeared on Prison Break, joins previously announced recurring guest star Lisa Kudrow.
The new season of Scandal premieres on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 10/9c on ABC.
