'Listening to him talk, I literally take a step back and I look around'

Anthony Norman, Jury Duty Presents: Company Retreat
Prime VideoJury Duty did it again. For a second time, the show convinced its unknowing protagonist of a false reality. Whereas the first season tricked Ronald Gladden into thinking the trial he served as a juror for was entirely authentic, Season 2, also known as Company Retreat, duped Anthony Norman into believing that Rockin' Grandma's Hot Sauce — the family business he worked as a temp for — was actually real. Only at the end of the Rockin' Grandma's annual retreat did the employees reveal to Norman that he'd been surrounded by paid actors this whole time and that dozens of hidden cameras were watching his every move.
When Jury Duty Season 1 was released in 2023, Gladden spoke to TV Guide about how he felt once leaving the courtroom. "After everything was revealed and then after I came home for the weekend, I started getting paranoid," he said. "I started freaking out and I was like, 'I feel like I'm being followed.'" A phone call with Season 1 star James Marsden reassuring him that no cameras were around helped alleviate Gladden's concerns. When Norman was asked whether he had similar feelings after filming, the Company Retreat protagonist said he didn't experience paranoia consistently. But certain exchanges would give him pause.
"I'll give you an example — I was doing valet at the end of shooting, and I was bringing this gentleman's car around, or attempting to, and his battery died. So I was like, 'Yo, can you come help me jump your car?'" Norman told TV Guide. "We're walking over there, and he's like, 'I'm sorry, man, it's been a rough night for me. I was supposed to get married yesterday, but we took some shrooms and and we called off the wedding.'"
"Listening to him talk, I literally take a step back and I look around, and I'm like, what's going on here?" Norman recalled.
"If there's a crazy circumstance or something like that, I'll definitely take a second to look around," he said. "But from day to day, I don't worry about it."
