TV Guide Magazine: Where are you going this season?
Gates: We'll be looking into hauntings in Pompeii and Angkor Wat and searching for the Nandi beast in Kenya, and the Mngwa beast in Tanzania.
TV Guide Magazine: Would you rather prove these legends true or debunk them?
Gates: I just want to be able to tell a great story and take viewers on a seat-of-your-pants adventure.
TV Guide Magazine: What's the scariest moment you've ever had?
Gates: We had an airplane mishap last season, in a Russian plane, when the roof ripped off during a flight. There are times when you feel like it'd be better to be talking about cakes on the Food Network.
