Nathan Fillion has (finally) broken his silence about his Castle co-star Stana Katic being let go from the show.

In a tweet posted on Tuesday, Fillion said he hopes Castle will continue on for years despite losing its co-lead and thanked Katic for creating "one of the greatest police officers on television."

Although she was the co-star on the series since it began, Katic was not asked to return for a potential ninth season by ABC, along with co-star Tamala Jones, who plays Lanie. The decision to cut both women was reportedly due to budgetary constraints, but Fillion will return if ABC decides to renew Castle.

What do you think of Fillion's statement?
