A woman, Charlotte, is stranded on the side of a desolate road in the woods when her car breaks down. A man in a truck pulls over and offers his assistance. He introduces himself as Owen, a truck driver and handyman passing through town. Charlotte is hesitant, but her options are limited as a storm is coming so she accepts a ride home. When they arrive Owen asks if he can use the bathroom. Charlotte grabs some firewood from the back of the house, when suddenly the power goes out and everything is dark. She asks Owen to help get a fire started in the fireplace and allows him to stay a while until the storm passes. Trying to make the most of the situation Charlotte pours them a glass of red wine and they end up sitting by the fire and talking into the evening. During their conversation much is revealed about their past and the harrowing darkness within it.
