Police Lieutenant Marshall has enough personal problems to deal with when he is called to the scene where a body has been found. The body of a young woman is discovered on a timber truck; she had apparently jumped to her death from a bridge. During his investigation, Marshall discovers that the deceased had been missing for some time. She had apparently managed to escape her kidnapper and died while fleeing. The police immediately comb through the missing persons cases of recent years and discover an alarmingly high number of young girls who have disappeared. The head of the department, Commissioner Harper, gives this case top priority and assigns the young police psychologist Rachel to work alongside Marshall. When another young girl disappears, the police finally get lucky. The pretty Lara has a tracker with her because she is on a vendetta with her fatherly friend Cooper. As a "honey trap," Lara lures pedophiles onto the internet, who are then violently brought to justice by Cooper on their first date. Thanks to the tracker, Marshall and his team are quickly able to locate Lara and the kidnapper's hideout and free several young girls who were being held captive in small dungeons. Simon, who is mentally disabled, is arrested on the spot. The question immediately arises: Is Simon the only perpetrator, or is there an accomplice working behind the scenes? In several conversations, Rachel tries to coax the childlike Simon out of his shell, but she doesn't really get anywhere. Then something inconceivable happens that suddenly sheds a whole new light on the case.
