The year is 1982, the first year of professional baseball in Korea. Gam Sa-yeong gets an offer to join the Sammi Superstars just because the team does not have any left-hander pitchers. Unlike its name, however, Sammi does not have any superstars at all. Far from being an ace, Gam spends most of his time as a relief pitcher, closing out hopeless, losing games. Nobody expects him to win. Any time that Gam takes the mound, the other team cheers in the knowledge that a win is all-but assured. And one day, the most unlikely, miraculous chance appears for Gam.
