An unnamed middle-aged man from Mexico City who travels to a remote canyon in rural Mexico with the apparent intention of ending his life. Emotionally detached and spiritually exhausted, he seeks isolation in a stark, mountainous landscape far removed from urban modernity. He finds lodging with Ascen, an elderly, deeply religious widow who lives alone in a humble house. Despite their differences in age, background, and temperament, she offers him quiet hospitality and compassion. Their relationship evolves from wary coexistence into an intimate, unsettling connection that challenges both characters' beliefs about faith, desire, dignity, and redemption.
