Welcome to 'The Fortune' - a bohemian drinking club hidden in the dark alleys of London's Soho. Ivan, an aspiring writer stumbles into the bar by chance. Here he meets the flamboyant drunk Lester Oliphant - a teller of tall stories - and the beguiling socialite and theatre producer Harriet Fabian, lover of statesmen, rock stars and artists. Ivan becomes entranced by Oliphant's stories of opportunity and the promise that Harriet can help him win the success he craves. But in the cold light of day things are not quite as they seemed and Fortune's smile, which once looked kindly now seems cruel and mocking.
