Shortly after the death of her mother, the nurse Meredith Stone writes a letter to her estranged father. She informs him that she has taken a new job at a Fairlawn estate, as the personal nurse of the wealthy owner, Ivar Langrock. Meredith develops a friendship with the old man, but she feels uncomfortable when his orphaned grandson Gabriel Langrock starts trying to seduce her. Ivar's per dog is hanged to death by a mysterious attacker. It is only the first of several strange deaths within the estate. While Meredith fears for her own life, Ivar's lawyer Jeffrey Fraser suspects that Meredith herself is the killer. She seems to have false memories involving her family, and she may be writing letters to her long-dead father.
