• Began his career on television in "The Invaders," "The F․B․I․" and "Gunsmoke," in addition to a small supporting role in the 1967 film "Cool Hand Luke․"
• Quote: "Somebody once told me I shouldn't try to change Hollywood․ That isn't my point at all․ I don't want Hollywood to change me․"
• Joined the cast of "M*A*S*H" in 1972 as Trapper John, but after feeling like a sidekick, he left the show in 1975
• Prior to acting he served in the U․S․ Navy, in addition to attending Princeton University and being a member of the Princeton Triangle Club
