• Graduated from John Randolph Tucker High School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University before transferring to New York University to major in journalism
• After a meeting with Barbara Walters in 1997, became a co-host on the morning talk show "The View" but was abruptly two years later, replaced by Lisa Ling
• In 2004, joined FOX's morning talk show "Good Day Live" as co-host but, after suffering a head injury during a segment on fire training, the series was cancelled one year later
• Joined the TV Guide Channel after her departure from "The View․"
• While attending New York University, worked at MTV as an intern and soon became story coordinator for "UnFiltered․"
• Part of the panel of celebrity judges in the TBS show "He's A Lady" in 2004, and has been a frequent contributor to VH1 specials
• Birth name is Despina Matenopoulos, named after her grandmother
