His first foray into the Hollywood acting scene came in 2009 with a small part in J․J․ Abrams' "Star Trek," but he quickly gained international superstardom two years later after nabbing the titular role in the "Thor" film series
His first known audition came on the Australian soap opera "Home and Away," and though he did not receive the part, producers called him back to read for a second character which he would eventually portray in more than 170 episodes
Reportedly put on more than 20 pounds of muscle for his role in 2011's "Thor"
Film executives were so impressed with his takes from "Cabin in the Woods" that they would eventually cast him in both "Thor" and "Red Dawn" from footage sent in from the horror flick
