• Earned the title of Mr․ Basketball for the state of Texas
• Attended and played NCAA basketball for the Georgia Institute of Technology between from 2002 to 2003

• In high school, he joined a computer graphics club called Wizkids for two years, as well as the Association of Minority Engineers and the National Society of Black Engineers
• Drafted with the 4th pick in the 1st round by the Toronto Raptors in 2003, and eventually led the franchise to its first showing in the NBA Playoffs in five years
